Training & Advocacy


Women on Waves provides training to organizations around the world. The aim of the training is to disseminate information about misoprostol for the use of safe abortion and safe birth as widely as possible. Misoprostol is an essential medicine that should be affordable and accessible to all women.

  • Training General Physicians in the Netherlands

    Medabon the combination package mifepristone and misoprostol became available in the Netherlands in May 2015. Contrary to the other mifepristone products it was registered for distribution by regular pharmacies. This means that finally general physicians can prescribe it for the overtime treatment.   • Advocacy in Surinam

    WoW travelled to Surinam, to give a training on the use of misoprostol for safe abortion and to discuss the possibility of a harm reduction model to provide information about misoprostol for safe abortion. Read more »

  • Community Training in Bangladesh

    In February, August and September 2011, Marlies from Women on Waves, traveled to Rajbari in Bangladesh to give a safe abortion training to medical doctors in Rajbari, as well as healthcare providers who have no real medical training, midwives, and Traditional Birth Attendances (TBA).
