Clinic in Amsterdam closed
From January 1, 2025 family doctors in the Netherlands can prescribe the abortion pill until 9 weeks of pregnancy. Please contact your family doctor (general physician) to receive a prescription. If you do not have a family doctor, you can try to make an appointment with a GP practice in your area. Everyone in the Netherlands, including people without documents/insurance, are legally entitled to healthcare from family doctors.
Please let us know if you cannot find a family doctor to help you.
If you are in the Netherlands:
1. You have a Dutch BSN and health insurance
You are entitled to abortion care at any regular abortion clinic. They provide both abortion with pills and surgical procedures. See Klinieken - NGvA
2. You do not have insurance, and you are sure you are <9 weeks pregnant:

You can go directly to one of the Amsterdam abortion clinics. A special fund is available to cover your treatment - the clinis are aware of this fund. You may also contact Doctors of the World for support:

International students, tourists, or short-term visitors
Visit a local general practitioner (huisarts). They can prescribe abortion pills. Costs are usually under €100.
If you can’t find a GP willing to help, contact us or Doctors of the World.
Alternatively, you can go to an abortion clinic and pay for the treatment yourself (up to €550 for abortion pills, up to €800 for a surgical procedure (under 9 weeks)
3. You do not have insurance and are unsure how far your pregnancy is:
You can get an ultrasound at any midwife or ultrasound clinic.
Cost: around €70. If you are <9 weeks, follow the steps above.
4. You are >9 weeks pregnant:
You will need to visit an abortion clinic.
Costs: €500–€1500, depending on method and stage.
