Abortion Law: Suriname
Under Suriname’s criminal code, abortion is generally illegal. A woman who intentionally causes the abortion or death of her unborn child or allows another person to cause it is subject to up to three years’ imprisonment. The other person is subject to up to four years and six months’ imprisonment if the woman consents to the abortion and up to twelve years’ imprisonment if she does not consent.
