Abortion Laws and Policies
Get abortion pills | Claim your rights
Access to abortion is a fundamental human right and a basic healthcare. If you live in a country where access to abortion is restricted, you can get abortion pills through Women on Web.
Abortion is permitted on request up to 12 weeks. It is permitted up to 22 weeks in cases of: Foetal impairment, rape, intellectual or cognitive impairment of the woman or person, an age below 15 or above 49 years old, or if the pregnancy endangers the woman or person's life. Additionally, there are other medical indications for an abortion between 12-22 weeks, such as a range of physical and mental disorders as well as congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities.
Minors under the age of 14 are required to obtain parental or adult consent for an abortion. Judicial authorization is required in cases of rape. Abortion seekers are required to go through mandatory counseling prior to abortion. There is a mandatory waiting period of 5 days in place counted from the moment of admission before the abortion can be done. Doctors and abortion providers may be criminalized for providing an abortion outside of the legal conditions specified in the law.
Medical practitioners and providers have the right to refuse abortion services based on personal beliefs. However, this applies only if it is possible to ensure the continuity of medical care for the patient. So-called conscientious objection cannot be practiced if the life of the woman or pregnant person is at risk.
