Canada clinics and associations

Though abortion is legal in Canada, access to services for women outside urban centers and especially the Northern Territories is extremely difficult.

Mifepristone was approved in 2015 and became available in Jan 2017. It is prescribed by doctors as Mifegymiso – a combination package of mifepristone and misoprostol – and is recommended for use by Health Canada up to 9 weeks of pregnancy. Some provinces provide universal funding for the drug, while other provinces fund it only for certain groups (low-income women, First Nations, and hospital patients).
