Bosnia: Abortion Law
The law on the conditions and procedures for abortion (20 March 2008) guarantees women the right to an abortion on request during the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. After 10 weeks of pregnancy an abortion may be obtained in cases of threat to life or health, severe fetal impairment, pregnancy resulting from a crime, and when there are psychosocial indications. During this period a committee must approve the abortion. Counseling and the provision of information are required before the abortion is performed. Minors over the age of 16 are competent to decide to have an abortion.
