Abortion is legal in Canada. The aborton pill Mifepristone was approved in 2015 and became available in Jan 2017. It is prescribed by doctors as Mifegymiso – a combination package of mifepristone and misoprostol – and is recommended for use by Health Canada up to 9 weeks of pregnancy. Some provinces provide universal funding for the drug, while other provinces fund it only for certain groups (low-income women, First Nations, and hospital patients).
