EL Salvador violates human rights by denying abortion

Beatriz is a 22-year old woman with active lupus nephritis and pregnant with an anencephalic fetus . El Salvador has a total abortion ban; there are no exceptions for the health or the life of a pregnant woman, or in cases of rape or incest.
Both the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights are urging the government of El Salvador to act swiftly to save Beatriz. The Office of the High Commissioner called the situation “cruel, inhuman, and degrading.”
However the government has not made any statement or taken any action yet and doctors in El Salvador still refuse to give her an abortion and want Beatriz to continue with the pregnancy under medical supervision. At this moment Beatriz is still waiting to get the medically needed abortion.
